Career Discovery and Success’s Career Connections team offers numerous ways to to engage and connect with students. In coordination with the Auburn Career Services Network, the Career Connections team will work with you based on your recruitment goals, to engage students and build your brand through efficient and effective engagement opportunities, outside of the traditional career fair.

VISIT AUBURN UNIVERSITY

The Career Connections team can help you plan your visit. There are a number of ways to engage students across Auburn University’s campus, and the Career Connections team will work with campus partners and the Auburn Career Services Network to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of your visit. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

Provide opportunities to bring academic studies and skills to life! Experiential opportunities provide exposure to careers to careers that match students interest, skills, and academic pursuits. By providing experiential opportunities to students, you position your company/organization as a competitive choice for students seeking full-time jobs. Experiential opportunities can be short to long-term engagements that help students gain valuable hands-on experience, work with or in diverse settings, as well as reflect on their development. What is Tiger Shadow?

Tiger Shadow is an on-the-job experience where you allow students to observe your work environment and learn more about your company and internships or job opportunities. This experience will allow students the opportunity to explore career options and gain knowledge to help them choose a major, occupation, or industry. 

FAQs 

Tiger Shadow is a one-day opportunity that can range from 4 to 8 hours. 

Tiger Shadow will be held during spring break, summer break, and fall break each year. 

Registration for hosting the Tiger Shadow Program will open in Handshake (see instructions below) approximately 2-3 months prior to the date of the shadowing opportunity and will remain open for 1 month. Student applications will open the day after your host registration closes and will remain open for two weeks. Afterwards, students will be matched with a host based on their major and career interest(s). Students will be given 1 week to accept their host match and those matches will be communicated with you. Lastly, you will send a schedule along with important information to students whom you have been matched in preparation for their shadowing opportunity.    

TigerShadow Registration Instructions:

  1. Visit Handshake and create a “Job” 
  2. Input Job Shadow (include the semester) For example, Job Shadow Spring 2025 
  3. Click on “Other” for Position Type then type Job Shadow (include the semester) 
  4. Include a description of the shadowing experience. Please provide as much detail as possible so that students have a full understanding of what to expect. 

What are Tiger Career Treks? 

Tiger Career Treks are immersive learning experiences that allow students the opportunity to explore various industries and career paths by visiting your company or organization.  

Why should I participate in a Tiger Career Trek? 

  • Allow students the opportunity to learn about your company and specific roles so they can discover the correlation between their major and future opportunities 
  • Expose students to potential career paths so they can confirm or make informed career decisions 
  • Establish valuable connections and engage with students whom you may select for future experiential learning opportunities 
  • Discuss current or future internship (job shadowing and co-op for local employers) and full-time employment opportunities 

How are students selected to participate? 

All currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to register for in Tiger Career Treks. Students will receive an invitation via email to participate 1 month prior to the start of the Trek. 

How can I participate in a Tiger Career Trek? 

Please click here to complete an interest form. Interest forms are accepted 3 – 5 months prior to the Tiger Career Trek event. After you submit your interest form, you will receive an email within 3 business days with more information. 

FAQs 

Tiger Career Treks can range from 2 to 4 hours or a span of 1 – 3 days with various companies. The length of the Trek depends on your availability. 

Tiger Career Treks will occur between Monday – Friday and will be located at your headquarters or branch office locations. 

Some events can include company tours, networking opportunities, conversation with alumni, question-and-answer panels, and more.  

Tiger Career Treks are in person. 

Employers are not charged a fee to participate in Career Treks. 

Unfortunately, students cannot earn credit for participating in Career Tiger Treks. 

Yes, you may offer refreshments and/or lunch.

Employers can showcase their internship opportunities to a diverse pool of talented students by utilizing Handshake, the university’s career platform. By posting internships on Handshake, employers can reach a targeted audience of students who are actively seeking valuable experience in their chosen fields. The platform allows employers to connect directly with potential candidates, review applications, and receive personalized recommendations to find the best fit for their company. Regularly updating and posting opportunities on Handshake ensures that employers can attract motivated and qualified interns, helping to build the future workforce.
