As a small private company, KKI offers engineers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects in a fast-paced and hands-on environment. Applicants for this position should be able to apply sound engineering principles and good judgment to the design of heavy machinery. KKI will provide training in all areas specific to the rail industry.
Potential Responsibilities
- Machine design including structural steel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and cooling systems
- Controls integration including component and sensor selection, graphics, logic, and programming
- Preparation and maintenance of engineering documentation including schematics and part/assembly drawings
- Electrical harness design
- Industrial diesel power unit design
- Manufacturing support and quality inspections
- Collaborating with customers and implementing design changes to meet their requirements
- Project management and coordination with multiple departments
- Supporting service, parts, and sales departments (some travel required)
- Attending relevant trade shows and training programs (some travel required)
Preferred Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Fundamental understanding of DC electrical systems and basic electrical components
- General mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience
- Ability to apply FEA within the design process
- Working knowledge of CAD software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications
