Software Engineer, Genesys

My name is Eric Crump and I am a software engineer with Genesis. So I support the Global Technical Sales Group. I write a lot of webpages, web services, applications to support technical sales. So we have sales people all around the world and they need to demonstrate our product. And so what I do is I write the demonstrations and the webpages that they interact with to be able to mimic what a customer would see in their environment. So what I do evolves very rapidly. So we're continually releasing new features to our products and new entire products. And so when those come out they get published and say this new product is available. So it puts a lotta pressure on me and my team to very rapidly develop something along those lines. And on our team, there's only a couple of developers. And so what we need to do is be aware that this feature is about to come out and start to make plans for it and then have it ready to go as soon as possible. Because it's very frequently that we'll get an email company-wide that says this product is available at nine o'clock this morning and by quarter after nine, we'll have emails, okay, how do I demonstrate this. Beings that we have people on every continent it really makes it so we have to be aware of what's going on at any given time. So I mean it's a little more difficult where if we wanna publish something or we want to restart a server or do something along those lines, we can't just do it. Okay, it's midnight, no one in the United States is on. Let's do it now. So we still have to look out for other people. Unfortunately, it means that certain parts of the world frequently get interrupted by us, but for the most part, yes, the fact that it's worldwide makes it much more complicated.
