Bruce is the Mayor of Bowling Green, KY. With a $100 million budget and a city council to regularly report to, Bruce’s days are non-stop. After 20 years as a captain in the police force, he became the CFO of a property development enterprise. Now the Mayor’s biggest goal is using his experience “to bring sound business management skills to the city”.

>> I always like having a voice, you know, when you actually step up and put yourself forward. You don't want to think being overly confident of your own abilities. But I've seen some decisions that politicians have made in the past that I wasn't pleased with and I didn't feel comfortable just sitting back and complaining unless I put myself up to the gain. So, I was able to, you know, be successful in getting elected. But the other side of that coin is, now that I am the one making the decision, those people who are now complaining have an opportunity to call and talk to me. So, I spend a lot of time on the phone and speaking with different groups and people around the city. >> I'm sure you get a lot of free advice, don't you? >> I get a bunch of advice. And it's not that I object to that at all. In fact, being in that same position a few years ago, I'm glad, you know, to take the time to listen. Now, my wife won't go with me to the grocery store anymore because I get pigeonholed there, and we talk about things and we never get done. But that's just part of being an elected official.
