A Civil Engineering Student is responsible for performing a combination of the following essential job functions: prepares routine engineering sketches, drawings, diagrams, tracings, and “As-Built” record plans based on inspector notes using manual drafting and computer-based drafting tools such as Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD); performs basic engineering and mathematical calculations; assists in compiling data for engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, etc., and in the maintenance of such data in various databases; assists in the exploration of soils and foundations and in the testing of construction materials; assists in map maintenance; assists in taking field notes and measurements; and assists in the analysis and geographic presentation of data using appropriate computer applications such as Geographic Information System (GIS).
