Leadership

Promote leadership and engagement in college/major specific organizations:

  • Ambassadors
  • Peer advisors
  • Peer instructors
  • Tutors

Technology

Include ePortfolio projects in courses to increase fluency of online platforms and showcase academic experiences.

Teamwork

Require group projects with set goals and accountability for each member of the team.

Communication

Use a variety of communication outlets for assignments including papers and presentations while emphasizing positive nonverbal messages.

Professionalism

Invite guest speakers to a class session and require students to dress in professional attire. Give extra credit for attending:

  • Critical Conversations
  • Conferences
  • Career Fairs

Career Ownership

Create career specific assignments and request Career Center presentations in courses.

Cross-Cultural Fluency

Encourage respectful class discussions on all topics, and implement group projects comprising students from various backgrounds.

Critical Thinking

Teach critical thinking skills in courses and require in all assignments. Incorporate assignments involving reflection and evaluation of differing information.
