Updates for Students from the University Career Center
As we are all transitioning to this new way of operating, we at the University Career Center want to assure our students that we will continue to support you during this trying and uncertain time.
We will continue to meet with any student or alumni within 5 years of graduating who needs our help. All appointments and mock interviews can be scheduled through Handshake and will be facilitated via Zoom during this time. We will not have drop-ins, so all appointment types will be available to all students in Handshake.
Campus Career Closet
Due to the nature of this service, we will be closing the Campus Career Closet at this time with plans to reopen when we return to campus.
Electronic Resume Reviews
We have two options for students to have their resumes reviewed online. We suggest that all students start with VMock for immediate feedback, and then once revisions are made, submit through our eResume option for customized feedback. To minimize response time, and keep our student employees working over this time of transition, we have more staff reviewing these documents and responding within 3-5 business days with a screencast video.
Employers are still hiring right now and continue to post daily, so we encourage you to use Handshake and CareerShift to look for positions and keep informed of virtual information sessions. To stay current on the impact of COVID-19 on employers, use trusted resources tracking the responses.
Career Development at Your Convenience
To make career development information accessible to everyone at anytime, we have been working hard to record video content including tutorials, quick tips, and adulting advice on social media with closed captioning included. We are adding new digital content daily and encourage you to follow us on social media to stay up-to-date: Instagram & Facebook.
As always we have a lot of valuable resources on our website and are happy to accommodate special requests as needed.
Please reach out if there is something we can be doing to help and we look forward to continuing to work with you as we transition through this difficult time.
